Tourism in Malestroit

Located between the ocean and the forest, our family campsite is an excellent starting point for tourism in Morbihan. Crossed by the river Oust and the Nantes-Brest canal, Malestroit is one of the towns of character in southern Brittany. You will discover narrow streets with half-timbered houses and many hidden figurines, not to mention the many crêperies and various renowned restaurants. This small municipality of 2,500 inhabitants is also home to some interesting religious monuments such as the church of Saint-Gilles, the Joubin cross, the cross of the faubourg Saint-Michel and the ruins of the chapel of the Madeleine.

Historically, Malestroit is the place where one of the peace treaties of the Hundred Years War was signed in 1343. Since then, Malestroit has preserved its heritage and is classified as a small town of character. Every year in July, the commune hosts a rock festival (Pont du Rock), and every Friday in the summer the “Canal Fridays” concerts enliven the Place du Bouffey. It should be noted that the house of the rabbids has recently taken up residence in this little town! Finally, if you are a history buff, consider including the Breton Resistance Museum, in Saint-Marcel, in your tour book.
