To go out in the Morbihan and see magnificent monuments, there is no need to travel hundreds of kilometres. Less than a quarter of an hour away from the campsite by car, is one of the most beautiful medieval buildings in Brittany: the castle of Josselin. Beyond its majestic towers, this building bordered by the Nantes canal in Brest (canoe rental, electric boats) contains a museum that will particularly appeal to children: the doll and toy museum.
Situated near Guégon and Lanouée, this commune of about 12,000 inhabitants, crossed by the river Oust, is also home to magnificent religious monuments such as the Basilica of Notre-Dame-du-Roncier, the church of Saint-Martin and the chapel of Sainte-Croix, which make it one of Brocéliande’s historical and tourist highlights.
Take the time to stroll along the banks of the river Oust, to lose yourself in the narrow streets of the town centre and admire the house on the Place Notre-Dame and the superb half-timbered houses that make Jossel and the Breton villages so charming. On Saturday mornings, visit the market in Josselin, one of the most popular in the region along with Malestroit.
