Visit Lizio and its insectarium in Morbihan

Nice village with the label “Small City of character”, Lizio is a Morbihan destination not to be missed: around a typical 17th century church, the village is composed of old granite houses with hydrangea flowers and discreetly decorated with carved fountains, dormers, niches and cornices, which testify to the prosperity of Lizio’s weavers in the 17th and 18th centuries. An interpretive trail allows you to discover the built heritage of the town: its remarkable homes, fountains, laundry, Templar Chapel, crosses and bread ovens. Several places are not to be missed visiting Lizio: the museum of old crafts, the Museum of Breton quarries, the insectarium and the universe of the Poet Ferrailleur. The outside of the village is also dotted with botanical trails and hiking trails promising beautiful family walks through the woods and the Breton countryside, to discover a rich and varied fauna and flora.

Family holidays in Lizio

Lizio is home to unusual places worth visiting: unique in Brittany, the insectarium is a place of discovery of the world of insects that exposes more than 60 species in their own ecosystems. Some specimens are very impressive: go to encounter stick insects 40 cm long or the largest beetle in the world! Another unusual and inescapable place, the universe of the Poet Ferrailleur is an enchanting place that fascinates visitors of all ages: populated by fabulous and poetic machines, the site offers a walk in an offbeat world where cabins with fairy architecture, mysterious gears and touching characters. Creations of Robert Coudray, these animated sculptures and picturesque lodgings are discovered during a free visit lasting approximately 2 hours. There is a coffee shop and a restaurant on site.
